🏆 Mastering the Sewer: High Score Tips
Published on June 20, 2026
Are you stuck at a score of 12? Do you keep crashing into the top of the stacked pillars of toilet rolls, or getting swatted out of the air by those annoying sewer flies? Tappy Turd is designed to be tough, but it's entirely skill-based. Let's break down the mechanics so you can finally claim a spot on the leaderboard.
The Physics of the Jump
The biggest mistake new players make is treating the jump button like a panic button. When you press spacebar (or tap the left side of your screen), you don't instantly teleport upwards. You apply an upward force that fights against gravity.
If you are falling fast, your first tap will simply slow your descent. You need to tap rhythmically to maintain a steady altitude. Practice hovering in the middle of the screen without moving forward before you try to thread the needle through the gaps.
Dealing with Flies
The sewer flies are the ultimate run-killers. They spawn on the right side of the screen and fly directly toward you. You have two options:
- Dodge them: Risky, as it often forces you out of position right before a toilet roll.
- Shoot them: This is the pro strategy. Tapping the right side of the screen (or clicking the mouse) fires a projectile.
Pro Tip: Don't wait for a fly to spawn. If you have a clear shot through the gap of the next pillar of toilet rolls, pre-fire. Shooting blindly through the gap often takes out a fly the exact moment it spawns, saving your life and earning you bonus points.
Risk vs. Reward: Flies and Coins
Coins are tempting. You need them to unlock that sweet Samurai skin, but they don't just spawn magically—you have to earn them by defeating sewer flies!
While hunting flies is the only way to get rich, it's also the number one cause of death in the sewer. If a fly spawns dangerously close to the edge of a stacked pillar, or your trajectory is slightly off, let it go. Surviving to pass another pillar adds to your high score, which is far more important for getting into the Daily Competitions draw. Focus on survival first; the coins will come naturally as you clear out the safe flies!
